The city wall, built in the 13th century, protected the old town of Buchen from attackers.

The moat in front and additional round towers for reinforcement provided additional protection. Today, large parts of the remaining city wall are integrated into the buildings. You can see part of the medieval battlement on the city wall.

The round tower next to it, also known as the "Thieves' Tower", used to serve as a prison. It originally stood in a different place, but was rebuilt here as part of the city's renovation. On the city wall circular path you have the opportunity to take a tour around almost the entire historic old town.
