The church was built at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. The first mention comes from 1337. During renovation in 1796, the building was plastered, the southern Romanesque portal was bricked up, and most of the window openings were transformed. In the years 1825–1826, a neo-Romanesque brick sacristy was added to the northern side, and in 1846, an annex was added to the southern side. The wooden furnishings of the church were destroyed in 1945, when they were used as fuel by Soviet soldiers.
