View of Windebyer Noor

Some of the paths are very muddy when it has rained, so sturdy shoes are essential!

The Windebyer Noor is a 389 hectare inland lake near Windeby west of Eckernförde (approx. 2 km away). The municipality of Windeby also borders the lake. A tour around the Noor offers a beautiful landscape to enjoy. Three quarters of the Noor are surrounded by a hiking trail. During the tour we had a wonderful view of the Noor and the adjacent fields. On the hiking trail there are, among other things, carved wood figures, an exercise course and the sixth largest boulder in Schleswig-Holstein, "the white stone", which is visible directly in the Noor.A tour around the entire Noor is approx. 11 km long and takes about 3 hours on foot. Eckernförde can be included in a complete circuit.Brief information on the Noor: Noor refers to almost completely separated bays of large bodies of water. They were formed during the Ice Age from glacier tongues. The complete separation of the Windebyer Noor from the Eckernförde Bay took place here in 1929 by artificial embankment.
