The Igreja Matriz de São Vicente on Madeira is a parish church from the late 17th century in the center of the town of São Vicente; it is considered one of the striking historical buildings on the island's north coast. The first sacred buildings on this site date back to a 15th-century chapel; however, the current parish church only emerged towards the end of the 17th century. Inside, the church is designed with three naves and surprises with a richly decorated space featuring a gilded high altar and elaborate wood carvings.
