This old Ridge Road track is part of a number of ridge roads dating back to the Iron Age that were developed naturally, often following the most practical high-ground paths to avoid dense forests, marshy lowlands, and rivers. It connects to the River Erme at Goutsford Gate near the Flete Estate.
