Constantly changing landscapes.
It must have been an odyssey for the boaters - because so many locks in a row - they couldn't move any faster than a pedestrian - if at all.
Many locks have obviously been out of service for a long time.
Only some in certain areas are still in operation.
However, some locks are being reactivated.
Whether this has anything to do with the poor water quality and the swamping of the unused parts of the canal - I don't know.
