The imposing brick building in neo-Gothic style dates from 1870. It is already the third town hall on this site. The town hall is also called the "Red Lion". While the lion symbolizes the power of the judge, the color red stands for the judiciary. In ancient times, court proceedings were held in front of the town hall. To this day, the mayor's office is located here.

The current building dates from 1870/1871 and was constructed in the neo-Gothic style using brick.

It is already the third town hall on this site. Previous buildings were lost, among other things, in a city fire and were replaced.

Architecturally, it displays typical elements of the neo-Gothic style: a dominant brick facade, pointed gables, and stylistic references to medieval town halls.
