City Hall (Concello da Coruña) at the Praza de María Pita with a statue in honor of Maria Pita, which was probably a kind of Spanish Joan of Arc.

The square is dominated by two great architectural wonders: the Town Hall building (Palacio Municipal) on one side and the statue of Maria Pita on the other. Built between 1908 and 1917 under the direction of Pedro Mariño, the Town Hall building features an eclectic style with modernist influences. Contrasting this imposing structure is a bronze sculpture dedicated to Maria Pita herself - holding her spear high, as she did centuries ago!
