Construction of the temple according to the plans of architects Wiesław Kononowicz and Stanisław Mizerski began in July 1939, but the outbreak of World War II interrupted the work, which was not resumed until 1946. The cornerstone was consecrated by Cardinal August Hlond on June 1, 1947. The church was completed in 1952 thanks to the efforts of Prelate Stanisław Skrzeszewski. On April 20, 1952, Archbishop Stefan Wyszyński celebrated the first mass, consecrated the walls and the first bell and gave it the name "Stefan". The interior furnishings were created thanks to the efforts of Prelate Józef Urcus. The church was consecrated by Bishop Jerzy Modzelewski in 1978. In 1995, thanks to the efforts of Reverend Prelate Edward Żmijewski, the tower was completed and the project was thus completed.
