Ströms, which originally served as a farmhouse of the Herttoniemi manor, was separated into its own manor already in the 18th century. The mansion is located between Marjaniemi and Roihuvuori on Untuvaistentie.

The Strömsö Manor is today home of the The Helsinki School of Fine Arts. It is an art school that provides basic art education in visual arts and media arts according to a broad curriculum. The school also organizes exhibitions, events and art courses for children and adults.

The School of Visual Arts contributes to the interest of the visual arts and culture of Helsinki residents by bringing art and events made by children and young people into the everyday environment of the city's residents, which are open to everyone.

The Helsinki School of Fine Arts was founded in 1978. The school is maintained by the Helsinki School of Fine Arts' Kannantusyhdistys ry. The school is a non-profit public benefit community and an established player in children's culture. The school's finances are based on tuition fees and course fees. Basic art education is also partly financed by the Ministry of Education (state contribution) and the City of Helsinki (operational grant).
