From the old fortress built during the Islamic occupation. This type of tower was widely used by the Christian troops for defense. The main tower and a second tower that flanked the access gate to the complex, known today as the Torre de la Torre, still remain. Torre del Homenaje or "El Torreón" or "The Keep". These formidable defensive structures were located, when possible, on the highest point in the municipality, in this case next to the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación, and today house several temporary exhibitions.
