We nearly skipped this upper section of the Lakes Basin Trail since it seemed to be lacking in lakes...unlike the trail we had hiked in on. We were so glad that we decided to check it out though - the trail climbs above the Lakes Basin and offers a sweeping view of the lake country below. There was also a section of sagebrush - so unexpected in the high alpine ecosystem! Definitely worth a hike through.
