The medieval castle of the Counts of Hirschberg, 200 m long and 50 m wide, was built on the Hirschberg mountain spur in the 11th century and is the largest castle complex in the Altmühl region. In 1305, the last Count of Hirschberg, Gebhard VII, died childless and left the castle to the Bishop of Eichstätt in his will.
Today the house is used as a conference and educational center for the Diocese of Eichstätt. The historic rooms offer a splendid setting for conferences, seminars and training courses for a wide range of organizers from the church, public sector and business.
