Primary School No. 1 of the Polish Army, formerly Choszczno Gymnasium of W. Jagiełło, formerly a primary school named after the infamous General Świerczewski, and even earlier the Städtische Realschule of Arnswald. View from before 1915. The building itself was probably erected around 1895, because from that date this form of education supposedly began to function in the old Choszczno. Over the several decades of its pre-war existence, it changed its name several times. Today, the school is located on Obrońców Westerplatte Street, which was formerly called Beguinenstraße, and the old photo itself was taken not from Chrobrego Street but "from the back" where apparently the main entrance to the building was located years ago. Unfortunately, the Polish post-war paint did not cope with the Prussian paint and to this day, the inscription "Elemantarschule" peeks out from under the former one above the main entrance.
