Agustí Torelló Mata was born in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia in 1935, the son of tailors and musicians. He began working at the age of 14 and at 18 he opened the town’s first wine analysis laboratory. In 1960 he married Carmen Sibill Cardús, beginning a life that would always revolve around cava and which would consolidate him as one of the best winemakers in the country.

A man devoted to cava, in 1955 he produced his first 500 bottles, while for years he advised and directed important companies in the sector. In 1978 he produced his masterpiece: KRIPTA, recognised as one of the world’s great sparkling wines.

With an annual production of 500,000 bottles of cava and 150,000 bottles of wine, it is present in more than 30 countries.

Under the current management of their 2 children: Àlex - oenologist, technical director of oenology and viticulture and Gemma, lawyer and company administrator, they are a benchmark in family businesses in the sector.

Today, 45 years later, with the alliance of the 3 generations incorporated into the winery, AGUSTÍ TORELLÓ MATA closes the circle of its own history and presents CELLER KRIPTA as the new corporate image and of all its cavas.
