The road bridge over the Hunte shipping lane on the A29 east of Oldenburg is a prestressed concrete structure with a total length of 441 m and runs over ten spans. The structure has been in use for over 40 years. As a result of a recalculation of the superstructures together with an object-related damage analysis (OSA) for some of the damage observed, an undiminished remaining service life could not be proven. This was followed by a feasibility study for the new construction of the superstructures and the continued use of the substructures as well as a main structural inspection in accordance with DIN 1076. The feasibility study considered, among other things, replacing the superstructures with lightweight composite structures while repairing the substructures. However, this variant, which has been proven to be feasible, was preferred to a complete replacement new construction. The new construction will take place one after the other for each substructure so that traffic can continue to flow on the second substructure throughout the construction period.
