The Enser Gate was the last part of the city wall to be completed in 1414. It got its name because it was the main road leading to Ense (now Nieder-Ense). When the city gates were demolished between 1831 and 1860 to make room for road traffic, only a remnant of the outer gate with the round tower of the Enser Gate remained, which was purchased by the Korbach merchant Friedrich Wilhelm Müller (1810-1876), whose garden plot bordered the Enser Gate. The family came from an old Korbach merchant family. The tower was converted into a garden house, and a staircase and terrace were added.
