Town Hall | Kirchheimer Str. 53 (listed building)
1569 first mention of a Hochdorf town hall and school building (location of the building unknown). This building was demolished in 1823 due to dilapidation. In 1822 the municipality acquired a house with a barn (built around 1800) at the current location. In place of the barn (to the right of the house), 2 schoolrooms (ground floor) and a council and courtroom (upper floor) were set up in an extension, and the schoolmaster's official residence was built in the house. Special features: prison on the upper floor, still preserved today; porch with roof overhang at the back was the reason for the building being listed as a historical monument in 1978. In 1842 the building was remodeled to its current exterior shape. Former mayor Güthle still lived in the town hall after 1945. First renovation in 1957; interior remodeling in 1985. 2016 Restoration with preservation of the historical substance and upgrading to the current standard for public buildings (latest building technology, accessibility); addition of a meeting room for the local council and redesign of the forecourt with relocation of the entrance to the rear area. Expansion and use of the attic as a wedding room and office space.

Hochdorf municipality - first mentioned in a document in 1189
The municipality of Hochdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1189.
Hochdorf owes its first documented mention to an exchange between the Adelberg and St. Georgen monastery in the Black Forest. The municipality then apparently remained monastic property for around 250 years until it became part of Württemberg in 1454. Hochdorf remained assigned to the Württemberg town of Kirchheim, 6 kilometers away, and from 1485 Hochdorf passed from the Kirchheim district to the Göppingen district, where it remained until 1842.
From 1842 to 1938 it remained with the Kirchheim district again and, as part of the municipal reform in the Third Reich in 1938, was assigned to the Esslingen district and thus to today's Esslingen district. Unfortunately or fortunately, the municipality of Hochdorf was spared from this great history. The name of Anna Catharina Haug, the girl from Esslingen, who actually came from Hochdorf, is worth mentioning.
In this respect, there are points of reference between the city of Esslingen and the rural municipality of Hochdorf at a very early stage. For centuries, Hochdorf was characterized by rural life. The Hochdorf mill first appeared in our history in the middle of the 15th century. This mill thus has a centuries-old tradition and has been operated in Hochdorf by the Zinßer family for around 150 years.
Other fixed points in our recent history are the Hochdorf corset factory, the forge, the brickworks on the Ziegelhof and the mining of angulated sandstone, which was, however, abandoned due to economic lack of success.
