Replacing a 17th century building (located on the site of the current market halls), the church was built from 1860, assigned to worship in 1864 but completed only in 1896. It is in neo-Gothic style (13th century). The building has no transept and has three naves. The stained glass windows are mostly from the 19th century.

The statuary presents remarkable old elements:
    - Chapel of the Holy Sacrament, a gilded wooden statue of the Virgin Mary (1629), two gilded wooden reliquaries
    - a deacon and a Roman soldier (18th century)
    - Baptismal font: wooden statue of Saint Nicholas (1630), group representing the baptism of Jesus (18th century).
    - Two contemporary works are by the sculptor from Batz sur Mer, Jean Fréour. It is a Christ in Glory, in the choir, and Saint Joseph and Jesus as an adolescent, an apprentice carpenter.

In 2017, the church welcomed a new organ, designed and built by the organ builder Bertrand Cattiaux, master of art, and his team. As such, it can be described as a true "masterpiece"; a work of art that can be seen and heard...
In terms of design, its architecture, resolutely modern, draws sails of boats, slightly curved by the wind, recalling the maritime dimension of Pouliguen.
In terms of music, its Franco-Flemish aesthetic makes it a polyphonic instrument. It will therefore be able to play music from the 17th, 18th and contemporary works from the 20th and 21st centuries, in a region where instruments are rather dedicated to music from the 19th.
It took two years to make the instrument in the workshop. It has 2318 pipes, 3 keyboards of 58 keys each, and 32 pedal keys.
