This is the accommodation of the so-called statars, farm workers who received most of their wages from the state. The building was moved to its current location and around 1900 was converted into a statar hut with four apartments, each with a room and kitchen. The statars' wages were free accommodation, firewood and a certain amount of seed, potatoes and milk per year. Life as a statar was hard and uncomfortable. Often the families had many children and many mouths to feed. In 1974, the municipality of Sävsjö donated the satare hut to the local history society, which restored and furnished the hut.
