Niederrickenbach (also Maria-Rickenbach or Rickenbach) is the smallest part of the political municipality of Oberdorf in the Swiss canton of Nidwalden in terms of population.
Niederrickenbach is located on a mountain slope between 1137 and 1172 m above sea level[1] under the rocks of the Musenalp in the Uri Alps. The mountain village with fewer than 100 inhabitants is located around the Benedictine monastery of Maria Rickenbach. This was built in 1864 just north of the pilgrimage chapel of St. Mary in Ahorn.
The population is made up of old Nidwalden families and is predominantly Roman Catholic.
