The convent of the Poor Clares, already mentioned in 1233 and expanded around 1540 with a cloister, underwent a radical transformation after the suppression of religious houses by Napoleon. It still preserves 16th-century loggias and traces of the ancient frescoes. The composite façade dates from 1921. Pius II ordered in a bull of 1459 that the Poor Clare monasteries of S. Spirito, S. Giorgio, S. Giacomo and S. Matteo be reunited and form a single monastery dedicated to Santa Chiara.
