The church has Romanesque origins and dates back to the year 1006.
Despite later modifications, traces of the original architectural style can still be seen.
The facade has Gothic-Lombard influences.
Notable features are the decorative arches, a central rose window and other openings.
The church has three naves.
In the right nave there are 15th-century frescoes, including the “Mystical Marriage of Saint Catherine”.
The presbytery and the apse are decorated with frescoes by Luigi Morgari from 1906.
