Built 1560-1568 as a moated castle on two islands in the style of the Lippe Renaissance.

Only parts of the outer bailey with the characteristic areal structure as well as gate pillars with hermen attachments and portal of the main castle remain from the original magnificent multi-wing building.
1750-1755 Construction of today's main building in place of the north wing in simple forms of the Baroque era.
