The marina was built for the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow and was the venue for the Olympic sailing regattas. You can still see an Olympic brazier on the building steps and further ahead the Olympic rings on a pillar in the water. In the background you can see the silhouette of the old town, weather permitting.

Tallinn hosted the sailing competitions at the 1980 Moscow Olympics. Because of the war in Afghanistan, however, the games were boycotted by numerous countries.
