300m from the Markersdorf ice station you will find the place where Marshal Duroc was killed by a Russian cannonball. Napoleon had a 1km² tent camp built above the Horschig farm to provide for the marshal. Despite all efforts, he died 1.5 days later. Napoleon had lost his most capable, beloved marshal. A hotel of the same name with very good food and further information can be found in Holtendorf 1km towards Görlitz.
