The Lüsgen Chapel looks back on an eventful history. The chapel was built on behalf of the hotelier Gervas Klingele in 1883/1884 in the immediate vicinity of the Hotel Belalp for his mostly Anglican guests. This only changed after the Second World War.
Due to the turmoil of the Second World War, tourism almost completely collapsed and Belalp was also affected. Due to the lack of English guests, there was also no demand for Anglican services. As a result, the bishop allowed local believers to use the chapel for Catholic services from 1941 onwards.
