The Wiedenbrück–Sennelager railway line branched off from the Rheda Railway in Wiedenbrück and led via Rietberg and Delbrück (Westf) to Sennelager, where it connected to the Paderborn–Bielefeld railway line. The connection was popularly known as the “Senneblitz”. The line was opened on 1 September 1902. Passenger traffic on the line was discontinued on 31 March 1958 due to low demand. One day later, operations passed to the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB), which in turn handed over operations of the Neubeckum–Beckum section of the line to the WLE. On 23 January 1979, freight traffic between Delbrück (Westf) and Sennelager was discontinued. Some residual freight traffic continued from Wiedenbrück to Delbrück (Westf) until 26 May 1990.
