The Church of St. Nicholas is a charming 19th-century Orthodox church in Narewka. Built between 1865 and 1867, it features an eclectic design with a distinctive dome and three-story front tower. Although it was originally planned to be dedicated to St. Alexander Nevsky, St. Nicholas, who is particularly revered among the local population, was ultimately chosen as its patron.

St. Nicholas Church (built after 1864).
The origins of the current Orthodox parish in Narewka (formerly known as Narewka Mała) date back to 1794, when the first wooden chapel of St. John the Baptist was built in the cemetery. This chapel then belonged to the parish in Lewków Stary. Unfortunately, on December 24, 1898, the chapel burned down and was never rebuilt.
In 1864, the decision was made to build a brick church. The church was planned to be located away from the center, on the site of the garden and park section of the Grodzisko manor. In June 1865, the cornerstone was laid. The name of the chief builder of Novików remains to this day. The church was built not only with contributions from parishioners. The Russian government allocated a whopping 10,000 rubles for the investment. Bricks for the construction were supplied by the Frydman brickyard (located near Narewka Mała) and factories in Białowieża. The church was consecrated in 1967, and three years later, it was consecrated (some sources indicate it was consecrated as early as 1867). St. Alexander Nevsky became the church's patron saint and remained so until 1869, when, following the creation of an independent parish in Narewka, the church was renamed the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.
