        Europe's longest beach promenade opens
From Bansin to Swinoujscie: Europe's longest beach promenade opens on Friday on Usedom. The twelve-kilometer-long path leads across the border between Germany and Poland.

Usedom - Europe's longest beach promenade opens on Friday on Usedom. The existing Kaiserbäder Promenade, which connects the seaside resorts of Bansin, Heringsdorf and Ahlbeck, has been extended by 3.6 kilometers and now extends to the Polish town of Swinoujscie. The path is now twelve kilometers long in total, making it the longest beach promenade in Europe according to the Usedom Tourism Association.

The new section has illuminated footpaths and cycle paths. The 3.6 million euros construction costs were covered by the EU and the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The opening will be celebrated on Friday at 2 p.m. on the border strip between Poland and Germany. There is also a meeting platform measuring over 400 square meters.

Poland has been an EU member since 2004. Since 2007, the Schengen Agreement has also applied to the German-Polish border: passport and border controls have been lifted since then.
