Embark on a moderate hike to the Reinbach Waterfalls near Sand in Taufers, a journey spanning 5.2 miles (8.3 km) with an elevation gain of 1097 feet (334 metres). This route, which typically takes around 2 hours and 44 minutes, winds through lush woods and alongside the rushing Reinbach stream. You will encounter a mix of surfaces, including asphalt, dirt roads, and forested paths, with stone steps and wooden constructions guiding you. A notable viewing bridge allows you to look into the depths of the cascading water, especially at the third and highest waterfall, offering an untamed natural experience.
While the initial sections to the first waterfall are often easy, the path becomes narrower, steeper, and more challenging as you continue towards the second and third falls. Sure-footedness is required for these demanding sections, where you will navigate roots and rocks. Consider visiting in summer, when glacier meltwater increases the water flow, enhancing the spectacle of the falls. Plan your visit to allow ample time to enjoy the various viewpoints and the changing terrain.
