Dawson City was founded during the legendary gold rush in 1896 and is located at the mighty Yukon River close to the confluence with the Klondike River. Many of the old buildings have been restored and make for a great scenery! There is a museum, some great hiking trails and you can even ride one of the last paddlewheelers, the "Klondike Spirit". The small town is also a popular destination for adventurers floating down the Yukon from Whitehorse.

There are some hotels that are open year-round and an RV park.
