Historically, Pogny has an interesting background. In 1107, the village was known as “Villa Santa Maria de Pugneio” and later as “Pugero”. The village was an important transit route connecting the royal power with the eastern provinces. It is said that Joan of Arc passed through Pogny on her way to meet Charles VII at Chinon.
Today, Pogny offers a peaceful, rural setting with a range of amenities including a bakery, supermarket, café-restaurant, and craftsmen. The village is set in beautiful natural surroundings between the Marne and the canal, and has a number of green areas and parks.
