Edward Jelinek lived in the second half of the 19th century and was an active activist for the Polish-Czech brotherhood, and a plaque on the rock here is in his honor, attached in 1897. Two years later a bronze medallion was added under the plaque.

It was named at a time when it was fashionable in the Tatra Mountains to name geographical features after the names of people who contributed to the formation of the Tatra Mountains."
