The twin towers of the keep of Greifenstein Castle were built in 1381 on the old castle wall by Ruprecht Count of Nassau-Sonnenberg and Johann Count of Solms-Burgsolms.
The ringing of three bells comes from the tower with a pointed roof. The Nassau tower with a round roof has no bells.
