The dominant feature of the town of Úštěk is the one-nave church of St. Peter and Paul, which stands on a sloping square. In the place where the church stands today, the Evangelical Church of St. Michael once stood. In the years 1764 - 1772, the Jesuits had it rebuilt, because the town of Úštěk was then the property of the Jesuit order. It was consecrated in 1767. As at that time many buildings were the work of Octavio Broggio, so he also had the Baroque parsonage built, which is located on the right side of the church and dates from 1772.
In the church there is an altarpiece by Karel Škréta from 1656. The painting shows the Virgin Mary in conversation with the apostles, after whom the church is named and whose statues are on both sides of the tower. There are also wooden sculptures by the carver J.J. Vančura.
