"In 1608, Duke Ernst of Brunswick-Lüneburg acquired the land and built a manor here in 1619. This changed hands several times. In 1945, Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery, commander-in-chief of the British occupying forces, was based here for a short time.
Until 2014, the estate was owned by the von Wagner family, who ran the Rittergut Falkenhardt spirit and pressed yeast factory there.
