The Inner German Border Memorial was opened to the public in a new design on November 9, 2014 to mark the 25th anniversary of the opening of the border. It is located in the former border tower of the border crossing and gives visitors an insight into life on and with the border from 1949 to 1989 in the Eisfeld/Rottenbach area. The exhibition shows documents and images of the former border crossing until it was opened on November 10, 1989. A border model illustrates the spatial extent of the Eisfeld-Rottenbach border crossing point. The memorial is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is €2.00 in €1.00 coins and is payable at the entrance. Source:

A very well-designed memorial at the former Eisfeld-Rottenbach border crossing. The former border tower houses a small exhibition on everyday border operations and life in the former GDR.
