If you don't want to use roads to get from Seebach/Flachland to Hornisgrinde/Mummelsee/Seibelseckle, this is the only possible way in my opinion. People keep pointing out the possibility of using the gravel works at Wolfsbrunnen as a shortcut: I've never been able to do that because of closed fences or working large-scale clearing machines. This route, on the other hand, is at least traffic-wise easy to ride up to the B500, from where it's a stone's throw to the region's tourist highlights. The climb described here is by no means a stone's throw in terms of fitness, but one of the hardest and probably the longest in this region of the Black Forest. In terms of riding technique, there are various gravel surfaces, but all of them are technically easy to ride except for the really extremely steep climb to Wolfsbrunnen itself. Have fun climbing :)

And if you're a bit scared of the route, you could also go via Kernhof, but then you'll end up more towards Ruhestein and there too it's a steep but not quite as long climb.
