Tips
A very beautiful place that can also be reached by car. The route is a bit tiring to drive because the road is steep and narrow and there is quite a lot of traffic and cyclists. You can take a nice walk around the lake or sleep in the hotel. The prices are a bit expensive though! From there starts one of the routes to Moldoveanu - the highest peak in Romania

The Cabana Balea Lac, newly built in 2000, is beautifully situated on the lake. It's not a true mountain hut, but rather a modern inn offering comfortable accommodation and excellent food. The clientele is quite diverse, ranging from car tourists to hikers.
