Bordingstown, often referred to as the "Lost Village," is an abandoned settlement nestled in the Slieve Bloom Mountains.

The village, officially known as "The Cones," was largely deserted during the Irish Famine in the mid-19th century. Located between Tinnahinch and Capard, it once supported several families, including the Conroys, Fitzpatricks, and Lalors. The harsh environment and isolation contributed to its decline, with only a few families remaining by the early 20th century.

Today, Bordingstown is a haunting reminder of Ireland's difficult history, with ruins scattered across the landscape. The area has become a focal point for hikers, particularly those exploring the "Lost Village Loop," which offers a scenic walk through the remnants of the village and surrounding forests. Visitors can see the remains of old homes and mills, and learn about the families who once lived there through interpretative signs along the trail.
