Best Mountain Biking Routes to Experience Carriage Spessart Ramp

Tips

  • The former local train carriage of Deutsche Bahn stands on the original railway line. This means that 300 meters of the Spessartrampe have been preserved in their original condition for posterity. The EXPERIENCE WAGON was formerly a local train carriage of Deutsche Bahn. It stands on the only section of the Spessartrampe that remains. The municipality of Laufach bought the carriage and had it pulled through the Schwarzkopf tunnel to its current location on June 15, 2017. This was the last train ride before the tracks on the former Spessartrampe were dismantled. The experience wagon has since been redesigned by the street artist Andreas Pistner on behalf of the municipality. The motifs have a direct connection to the location: the steam locomotive and Schwarzkopf tunnel point to the former Spessart ramp, the oak leaf, lizard and woodpecker represent the location at the gateway to the Spessart, the Blue butterfly, a rare butterfly, lives on the meadow above our recreational area.

  • With the decommissioning of the Spessartrampe and the Schwarzkopf tunnel on June 15, 2017, the 163-year history of the old Heigenbrücken station came to an end.A shorter route with only a slightly reduced gradient (21 instead of 21.7 per thousand) has been gradually put into operation since June 19, 2017.From June 15 to 19, 2017, the new Spessartrampe was linked to the existing network as part of a total closure and the new Heigenbrücken stop was put into operation.Source: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spessartrampe
