The Alt Schwerin village church, a listed building, was probably built in the 14th century as a simple brick hall church with a flat ceiling. Severely damaged during the Thirty Years' War, it was rebuilt after 1700 by the von Wangelin family, who later added distinctive elements. The original half-timbered tower was replaced in 1866 by a square west tower made of fieldstone and brick, crowned by an octagonal helmet with a cross. The original organ by Lütkemüller was lost in 1945. In 1995, the church received a new organ by Friedrich Friese III, acquired from the Boitin village church. It has four stops on one manual and pedal.

On the north and east sides there are burial chapels from the 18th century, in which, among others, Christian Friedrich von Wangelin († 1755) and his wife Adelheid Anna von Heespen († 1758) are buried in stone coffins.
