From the Dinkel Bridge in Breuningen, the Mauritspad runs as a narrow, rustic bicycle path close to the natural and charming Dinkel River to the historic "Mauritsbrug," where it then crosses the river. For e-bike riders, the unpaved path presents a bit of a challenge. And if you continue along the Mauritspad, the next challenge awaits you here, crossing the Dinkel River. The historic wooden Mauritsbrug has steps on both sides!During the Eighty Years' War (1568-1648), Prince Maurits and his troops attempted to cross the Dinkel River over this historic bridge in battle against the Spanish. In memory of this time, a cannon stands on the left bank of the Mauritsbridge. From a bench with a table on the opposite bank, you have a clear view of the cannon.

Between the Dinkel bridge on the Oude Dijk and the Beuningerveldweg in Beuningen, a fantastic hiking trail runs along the natural and untamed Dinkel.
From the Dinkel bridge to the "Mauritsbrug (Mauritspad)", the trail is still fairly easy to manage on a tour with a bicycle (e-bike). The Mauritspad branches off at the Mauritsbrug, which has steps, over the Dinkel. The further path to the Beuningerveldweg is more for hikers or mountain bikers. The extremely rustic, varied and very narrow trail mostly runs close to the Dinkel, which winds its way through a rustic forest. Fallen trees and thick tree roots can cause surprises here.
