Krustpils parish is first mentioned in documents in 1457. Nikolaj Korf built a new wooden church near Krustpils Castle in 1618, but it was burned down by Swedish troops in 1621. Another wooden church was built in 1637, but this one too was destroyed in 1656. The third wooden church did not last long either. In 1683 N. Korf had a stone church built, which was completed on July 11, 1688. In 1750 the church tower was struck by lightning and the church burned down, but it was soon rebuilt. In 1792 JK Broce had drawn this church and palace several times. At the beginning of the 19th century the church was completely demolished and in 1818 it was decided to rebuild the church. The ruins of the old church were demolished, only the old bell tower remained, to which the new rooms were added. The work was supervised by mason NH Bardovik and carpenter M. Kardel. In 1820 the new church was completed, but the consecration did not take place until June 29, 1824. Major repairs to the building were carried out in 1848, 1868 and 1874. During World War I the church was shelled and destroyed. Church bells were taken to Russia. Restoration work on the church was not completed by the parish until May 28, 1924. The organ was reinstalled in 1935. In 1956 the organ was repaired, but in 1966 it was destroyed. The organ was restored by Estonian organ builders and re-consecrated on May 28, 1967. In 2005 Krustpils Church was added to the list of cultural heritage as one of the cleanest cultural monuments in Latvia.
