The Serghei Lazo monument is one of the Soviet-era monuments in Chisinau. Lazo was a Moldovan nobleman. He joined the Bolsheviks and fought in the Vladivostok region. After a massacre of Japanese, he was arrested by the Japanese army and handed over to the White Guards. They executed him, although it is not clear what is myth and what is true. For the Soviet Union, he was a hero. In Moldova, there are occasional calls for the monument to be torn down.
