A local legend tells of a craftsman from Belvì who had the idea of creating metal birdhouses, scattering them throughout the woods.
Here he was the victim of a prank by "Maschinganna", a demon of the Sardinian folk tradition who enjoyed playing pranks on those who passed by, who caused the houses to rust and ruined, making them inhospitable to birds.Maschinganna then confronted the artist, recommending him to build the houses with chestnut wood, more suitable for the needs of the birds.
