Bergdoktor Practice (Hinterschnabel Farm)

The Bergdoktor practice appears like a real doctor's office in the series, but in reality it's a pure film set – nothing is filmed inside at the original location. The interiors exist only in the studio, and many scenes are staged through clever editing and perspectives so that the house, surroundings, and plot fit together seamlessly.

The former mayor of Ellmau, Johann Leitner, took over his mother's farm in 1985 and has been running it at Ellmau's Faistenbichl ever since.Until the Bergdoktor film team became aware of the farm in 2007, the residential wing was empty because it was not connected to the electricity grid. Since the Bergdoktor has been running his film practice there, the former farmhouse rooms have been lovingly converted and refurbished. The meadows and fields of the Hinterschnabel farm are still managed by Hans Leitner.The people of Ellmau are proud of the new landmark, which is now admired by around 8 million television viewers for several weeks a year and makes people want to go on holiday in the Tyrolean mountains.
