This forest is called Mastimännik (Mastpine Forest). The height of these couple-of-hundred-years-old trees is at least 30 meters.Despite the name, these trees have not been made ship masts, because their trunks are curved due to being molded by the windsfrom the sea. In 2008, Mastimännik was damaged by storm which felled a lot of pines. Windthrow was cleaned up so that the criss-crossed trunks would not be an eyesore and the trail would be walkable. Further trees that used to grow under the protection of the forest are now also open to the winds and in danger of being uprooted or broken. Count
