The town of Luserna, 271 inhabitants, is located on the southern border of a large plateau, which winds through the area of Lavarone and Passo Vezzena, above the Val d'Astico. Luserna is known for being the last Cimbrian linguistic island. Unlike what happened elsewhere, this language, which corresponds to High German and is defined as the oldest peripheral Germanic language, has remained alive and is still used today by the majority of the local population. Even the signs of the Town Hall are in this ancient language.
